Orientation Night:   New Members Welcome!

Program:   Show and Tell and Hands On Practice!

Please bring any interesting prints or digital photos (on a jump drive), that you may have taken over the summer months to share with the rest of the Club!   Members are also invited to bring any “Shows”  that they have been working on over the summer for viewing.  Finally, we’ll be practicing shooting “Yellow” (as part of the Summer Shoot).  So please bring in your cameras and a “yellow” object to the meeting and we’ll use our imaginations to do some creative photography.

Program and Club Competition Night

Special guest Allan Bargen will be giving instruction on how to judge and judging etiquette. Meeting will start at 7 pm instead of the usual 7:30 pm.

Assigned Subject - "Out of Focus"   Shooting something interesting AND out of focus is harder than you think!  One (1) photo allowed per member.  Please refer to the Competition Rules section on our website for instructions on how to properly name and size your digital images.  Please email your digital images to Chilliwackcameraclub@gmail.com.

Large Print: One large print (8 X 10 or larger), allowed per member.  Prints can be any subject.  Only a black or a white matte is allowed.  No framed prints please.

Competition Night – CAPA OPEN / CAPA NATURE

CAPA (Canadian Association of Photographic Arts),  has a Fall competition open to all Camera Clubs across Canada.  CAPA registered Camera Clubs compete in two categories – OPEN and NATURE.  Open category covers any subject except for Nature.  The Nature category is strictly limited to natural scenics, landscapes, wildlife, birds, etc.

CAPA OPEN  (Digital Only Format)  Up to two (2) OPEN digital images (e.g., any subject except nature), may be entered per member.  Both images will be judged, however only one of them (if successful), may be submitted to CAPA for the competition.

CAPA NATURE  (Digital Entries only)  Up to two (2) NATURE category (e.g., birds, wildflowers, wildlife, etc.), images may be entered per member.  Though only one of your images (if successful), will be sent to CAPA for the competition.

Program:   Possible Guest Speaker from CAPA (arrangements are pending).  Also, members are encouraged to bring presentations or demonstrations for showing the rest of the club.

Summer Shoot Competition Deadline:  Please bring your eight digital photos on a USB memory stick to the club for downloading and for judging later.  (Please see the “Club Meeting Schedule” on our website for the list of the Summer Shoot subjects.

Annual Christmas Dinner and Awards Night

Christmas dinner and awards presentation. Location “Rendezvous Restaurant”. Gift exchange ($5 to $7).   During the Awards, we will be viewing the results of the 2012 Summer Shoot member submissions, immediately followed by the Summer Shoot Award presentation. Members can bring their own photos to share or digital shows.  Guests are welcome to attend.

CAPA CLUB Theme Competition “Altered Reality”

Note:   Due to CAPA deadlines, we will be having our Club Competition on the first meeting in January instead of our normal second meeting in the month.

CAPA Digital Theme Competition:   Altered Reality” (photoshopped image)  Two (2) digital entries per member allowed for judging, though only one of those images (if successful), may be entered into the CAPA competition   Note: CAPA’s competition rules say that digital manipulation is required for this competition.  So please use your imagination!

Field Trip!  Bring Your Cameras!

Al Parker’s Antiques and Classic Cars!   NOTE NEW TIME!    7:00 PM

We will gather at Al Parker’s place (7981 Atchelitz Road, Chilliwack), to shoot chrome, memorabilia, neon signs, curios, novelties and ornamental bric-a-brac from the 1950’s and 60’s, and even a jukebox.

So bring your cameras and tripods along and be prepared to have some fun. 

We will review the results of our field trip later in the Spring. 

 

Note:  The previously scheduled “Assigned Subject” has been moved to February 27th.

Club Competition Night – Assigned Subject

Assigned Subject: -- "Quintessentially Canadian" Two (2) photos allowed per member.  This subject will be our Club entry for the annual Fraser Valley Invitational (FVI) competition, hosted by the Langley Camera Club.  Shoot your best representations of Canada and/or what it means to be Canadian.  (E.g.  A voyageur paddling a red canoe with a hockey stick and eating Canadian bacon while being chased by a beaver.)

Club Competition Night:  Photo Essay

Photo Essays can be up to 5 minutes long.  Essays can be narrated and/or include dubbed musical accompaniment. Essays can be either digital or slide shows.  If digital, then Pro-Show Gold is recommended, but other digital programs are acceptable.  Essays are judged on 3 criteria, each worth ten points each –  1. Subject flow, 2. Presentation and 3. Photography, for a possible total of 30 points.
